But why Fashion? #bullying #mentalhealth

Hello my gazelles, I hope that you’re all doing well! Today’s topic is about fashion and how I used it as a form of self-expression which helped me shape my personal identity.

You may already know that I lived in Newcastle for more than 9 years. I have to say that a lot has happened. Like that one time I got threatened to get my hair chopped off by some girls who were serious enough to stick chewing gum up in my hair and it was an absolute pain to remove !

On the other hand; I had to cope with being bullied by some Arabs for not covering up my hair, until time went by and I started wearing a headscarf. I then got upgraded to a new level by being publicly harassed by non-muslims for wearing one.

This is a note to say that I am not trying to offend anybody, however, I will still share my personal experience.

It took me time to make good friends, but fashion kept me company, it may sound crazy to you, but the time that I’ve spent getting ready, picking out my outfits has always felt so therapeutic and soothing.

The way that I perceive fashion is so much more than wearing the latest trends, and it’s not based on the amount of high end and designer items that I own, I perosnally see it as a from of #selfcare.

It’s a way of living! Every day I wake up is a new chance for me to wear another outfit that makes me feel and look good. While some people think dressing up is a lot of effeort, and it’s done to impress others, my opinion is the total opposite because the only person I am willing to impress is myself.

So why fashion? because it’s empowering, and it boosted my confidence. Every style has a different impact on how I feel, and that’s the beauty of it. For instance the Characterful gown by Amoralle made me feel elegant, feminine and it embraced a different side of my personality.

Don’t forget that I like to hear from you so feel free to send me your stories and life experiences, let’s all share the love and support each other.

Stay safe, and love yourself.

Tips on how to get your sh*t together!

Hello, and welcome back to my blog. It has been ages since the last time I posted on here, and got to say that I truly missed writing so I decided to start again.

Before we get to the main topic, I want to say that I truly appreciate every single one of you who decided to click and read this blog post.

Now let’s talk, and this time we are going to get a bit personal, but not too personal lol

So, why have I stopped writing ?

To be honest I have few reasons, but I will only be discussing one of them because I feel that you might be able to relate to it.

I have a severe anxiety and in case you don’t know what that is you can read about it here. The past couple of months were very tough and that’s because I let the negative thoughts control me.

You don’t know know how many blog posts I have written in the past and never hit the ‘publish’ button just because I got super worried about them not being up to standards.

Until I’ve made a decision of learning how to deal with my anxity, but I also want to help you overcome the negative thoughts in your head and give you a couple of things that I have found to be effective.

Here are some tips on how to manage or cope with your anxiety:

  • Get yourself a diary.

Start writing about how you feel, it will help you reflect on what’s going on in your life and to get to know to yourself a bit more.

  • Draw or paint.

You don’t have to be talented, the process itself is very soothing and relaxing to mind and soul.

  • Speak to someone.

Talking to someone else can be helpful, I advice you to try to pay attention to what you’re saying, this can help you come up with solutions, and realize that some negative thoughts seem way bigger than they actually are.

  • Go to the gym, do a sport or dance

My lovelies, never underestimate the importance of being active, as this can improve your mood and help your mental health, and it will make you feel more energised as well.

  • It’s okay not to be okay!

You’re not supposed to feel all happy and confident 24/7 but do try to make yourself feel better by doing things that you love and enjoy. I would personally eat my fave dessert, or spend some quality time with a loved one. Sometimes I do both at the same time haha.

Last but not least, remember to enjoy the moment, live it and accept it, because things will get better. So take your time into finding the right mindset, smile and relax because you deserve to be happy.

Sending you lots of hugs, and wishing you all the best.

Till next time my lovelies.

The Green Coat

Hello, my gazelles, I hope that you are all doing well.

We all know that It is that time of the year when it is cold, depressing and dark, but I’ve got your back with a nice pop of colour to brighten your Autumn/Winter closet!

You’re probably seeing a lot of green in the high street, on Instagram and featured in fashion magazines, and to be honest with you green is definitely one of my favorites to give any outfit a touch of boldness and edginess.

I was walking around town with mama the other day, we went to Primark because “hello I am a student and I love me a good bargain lol”. I ended up finding a green coat that looked like it should be hung my closet with the rest of my coats, so I got it!

Most Instagrammable cafe in Newcastle

Hello my gazelles, I hope you’re all doing well.

Last Thursday I went to the relaunch of the Great British cupcakery because they had a  makeover. The refurbishment is absolutely stunning and to be honest with you, the cafe now looks beyond amazing.

Shoutout to all the content creators and bloggers in the North East, You no longer have to go to London to get you a pink latte or to pose in front of floral walls.

For me, The Great British Cupcakery has always been a good spot to take some delicious looking photos that are perfect for social media.

I remember every time I go and post my big milkshake or my cute cupcake, my friends and followers end up messaging me and asking me about the name of the cafe so that they can go and get their hands on some mouthwatering treats.

I’m so glad that I have attended the relaunch, as I had so much fun meeting new people while sipping my coffee and enjoying the lovely buffet.

Naomi Carpenter the marketing manager was lovely, she made sure she spoke to everyone and she was one of the main reasons why the night was very successful.

I mean a good event =  friendly event organisers, good food and good music right?

Did I mention that they gave us goody-bags as well!

The Cupcakery’s parlour is open daily serving coffee, tea, lemonade, freshly-baked cupcakes, waffles and sandwiches.

You can order bespoke cakes for all occasions by visiting their website GBcubcakery

They also have an Instagram page that’s so visually appealing and beautiful, so give them a follow

This was my outfit for the re-launch of the cafe. I got this suit from Zara last year however, I found something that’s very similar here and here

My heels are from Marks&Spenser, they’re out of stock but I found something similar and more suitable for winter here

Here are some photos for you to have a look at how cute the cafe is, in case you want to have a look at some before you give it a visit.

Wooden watches for all

Hello my gazelles, I hope you’re all doing well.

I’m back to you with one of my favorite accessory pieces.

Can you guess what it is?

Today we’re going to talk about watches and not any kind of watches.

I’m here to share with you my current obsession with wooden watches.

We all know that a good quality timepiece is a stylish useful accessory to be used to check the time and to give our wrist a touch of elegance.

I know a lot of people that don’t even change their watch batteries lol yet they wear them for the sake of fashion, which is totally fine!

I have recently been in love with my Jord watch, and it looks like I won’t be taking it off all summer and probably during the cold season too.

Here’s a list of 5 reasons why I love and highly recommend Jord’s wooden watches

  1. They are a perfect present for all sorts of occasions for him and for her

  2. They look stylish and trendy yet very elegant

  3. You can engrave the wooden box that your watch comes in( my favorite part), or even better, you have the option of inserting a meaningful engraving on the back of your watch (excluding the Cora collection)

  4. JORD watches provide a variety of different kinds of woods which will give you more options to choose from

  5. The prices are reasonable and aren’t as expensive as you might think, plus they have an international shipping service

My beautiful watch is from the Cora collection, it combines a nice pop of coral and a mix of zebrawood and rose.

Sou talks, body shaming, psychology, and art

“…I’m not fussed about living them extra three years if am 80 something I will probably be sick and bored of life anyway”

The 19 years old young lady who is currently studying Psychology and Business considers herself as an octopus because of the lifestyle she’s trying to keep up with. Her life as an international student with many responsibilities and obstacles seems to be an attraction to all around her.

It’s 8:30 in the morning, sitting in a cozy local cafe waiting for Souad to have a warm drink in the freezing cold weather but it turned out that she dislikes coffee and prefers having pizza!

Souad you said that your name means happiness, What is happiness to you?
Please call me Sou, and I believe happiness is being stable and being at peace with yourself and where you are in life.

What are your main hobbies and interests? I would say I’m highly interested in arts, and I am having an increased interest in being a humanitarian, and giving knowledge to the world and I must say not forgetting about myself.

What are your thoughts on social media and influencers? I believe it’s based on the way that people use it, some people waste their time while others make a career out of it especially seeing women from all different races, religions and body sizes getting out there and having the opportunity to have some power to reach a wide audience. I think that it’s ideally one of the world’s greatest inventions.

Back to your artwork how would you describe the style of it? Rather than one style because I rather experimenting with different styles, I have one theme which is feelings, I believe feelings are very difficult to describe since they’re such an abstract thing and they varied.

Do you think that your Artwork represents your feelings or someone else’s feelings? It can be both, and I remember back in high school I used art to describe my friend’s struggle in life, and how problems were affecting them.

Do you look ahead to the future? What do you want to achieve? No, I don’t, and I try to avoid looking ahead to the future unless it was a short-term like planning my weekend. I believe thinking about the future might bring you down and you will end up not focusing on the present which will lead to producing low quality work whether it’s education, art or even taking care of yourself. So I say worry about the future when you’re there.

Besides being a psychology and business student you have recently started working with your fashion blogger friend in management? How does that relate to your interests? As a starting point, it was more or less just giving advises to a friend but I thought oh why don’t I start doing it in a professional manner especially that my friend’s work was growing bigger. It’s a great way to work on my weaknesses and gain more knowledge.

I have looked through your Instagram and I love it, What are your thoughts on body shaming on social media? And how would you comfort younger girls and women? Body shaming is a problem and should get more awareness, to help empower women. I would say be who you are and it’s okay to want something while working on it from a healthy aspect. Don’t believe everything you see, believe me, even the people you think they’re perfect looking on their Instagram photos, when you speak to them you’ll find out that they are still insecure about their bodies
“ It’s okay with me to lose 3 years of my life due to eating the food I like and enjoying it am not fussed about living them extra three years if am 80 something I will probably be sick and bored of life anyway”

Meli’s Greek cafe, the best in town #Newcastleupontyne

Hello coffee lovers, I’m back with my coffee reviews lol. Back in Feb my friend said she wanted to take me to this new cafe called Meli and I obviously agreed.

The cafe is run by the cutest couple from Greece, which explains that the name Meli is actually a Greek word that means honey.

The cafe provides snacks, coffees, teas, different drinks including smoothies and they also have sandwiches and their soup of the day.
My favorite thing about Meli’s is that their coffee is strong, the atmosphere is very cozy and warm.
The owners will make you feel that you’re home, they’re very smiley and friendly.
I would highly recommend you to try their Freddo cappuccino in the hot weather, love how they sprinkle some cinnamon on top, so yummy.
Their olive oil chocolate cake is so spongy and it has fewer calories than regular chocolate cakes.
They keep making different soups and omg they were absolutely delicious.
  • Vegan options available
  • Healthy snacks
  • Fresh smoothies/food
  • Greek music creating an ( ambiance )
  • Different cakes/new recipes
  • Central location
  • Only cash payments

Overall I would say that it’s definitely my favorite cafe in Newcastle so far, with the lovely interior, very light enjoyable food with your loved ones, and the best customer service ever.
What else could you ask for?
142 Northumberland St, Newcastle upon Tyne
Let me know your thoughts if you have visited Meli, if not then comment your fave coffee spot in Newcastle.
Thank you for reading my little review, lots of love.
